A seat: what it gives, costs and ends
A seat is a numbered place on the public roll. It records that Aurelle checked a set of facts about you on stated dates. It lasts one year and is checked again before the next.
Status, November 4, 2026. No seat has been elected yet and nothing has been charged. The terms below are a draft and may change before the first seat is offered. Every applicant is told of each change.
What you get
- A place on the public roll, with a profile showing each registration, its number and the date Aurelle confirmed it, your fees in figures, every way you are paid, and your clients' reviews.
- A re-check before each re-election, with the dates updated on your profile.
- The seat card, as plain text for your own site and email signature. It links to your profile.
- Introductions, where your profession's rules allow them. When someone asks Aurelle for names, it may name you if you are licensed for their state or province. Aurelle promises no number of Introductions, and in the first year there may be none.
What you give
- Keep every criterion true, and tell Aurelle within ten days if one stops being true.
- Publish your fees in figures and every way you are paid.
- Let Aurelle ask your clients for reviews and publish them whole.
- Pay the seat fee when it is invoiced, after each election or re-election.
What ends a seat
- A failed re-election check.
- A complaint upheld by Aurelle Standards.
- A fee schedule that is no longer in plain figures.
- A way of being paid that is not on your profile.
- A registration that lapses, or is suspended or restricted.
- Use of the seat card against the rules further down this page.
A seat's number is retired when it ends, and the record says why. You may appeal.
Where your profession limits payment for referrals
Some professions may not pay for a referral. For those, Aurelle charges the seat fee and no per-Introduction fee, and your profile says so. At the start no profession is charged for Introductions. The table shows each profession and when that changes.

Draft seat terms
What a seat holder agrees to, in short. The full agreement is signed at election. Draft version 0.1, November 4, 2026.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Length | One year from the day the election is decided. |
| When you pay | Aurelle invoices after the election, or after the re-election for a later year, has been decided. The invoice is due 30 days later. The fee is invoiced after the verdict, so it is not a payment for one. It pays for the year's seat: the profile, the re-checks and the roll. |
| Renewal | There is no automatic renewal. Aurelle emails you 60 days and 14 days before the year ends. If you do nothing, the seat ends. |
| Cancelling | Write to hello@aurelle.institute. The seat ends on the day you ask, and your profile comes down within five working days. |
| Refunds | Ask within 30 days of paying and you get the fee back in full. After that there is no refund for the current year, unless Aurelle ends your seat for a reason that is not a breach on your part. Then you get back the full months left. |
| Founding seats | A seat elected by December 31, 2027 costs CAD 1,200 for the first year and CAD 2,400 for the second. |
| Tax | Tax is added where it applies and is shown on the invoice before you pay. |
| Changes | A change to these terms is dated and logged on the corrections page before it applies, and does not change a year you have already paid for. |
The seat card on your own site
The card is plain text you place on your website and in your email signature, with a link to your profile. It shows your seat number, the year you were elected and the line that says members pay Aurelle an annual fee. A sample card is on the home page.
- Use it only while the seat is live.
- Do not change its words or leave out a line.
- Do not describe the seat as a recommendation or a ranking, or as a promise about your work.
Links from this site to a seat holder's own website are marked as sponsored for search engines, because seat holders pay Aurelle.
