The fine print, in plain words
Last updated November 4, 2026.
Information, not advice
Aurelle publishes information, not advice.
A seat records that Aurelle checked published criteria on stated dates. It is not a recommendation of a professional, and Aurelle does not guarantee their work. Aurelle is not party to any agreement between a seat holder and a client.
Aurelle is not a registered investment dealer, adviser, portfolio manager, broker, tax preparer, accounting firm, immigration consultant or law firm in any province, territory or state, and nobody at Aurelle is licensed to give you financial, tax, immigration or legal advice. The founder is not a planner, an accountant or a lawyer.
Where a profession's rules do not allow payment for referrals, Aurelle charges no per-Introduction fee, and the seat holder's profile says so.
Before you act on anything here, talk to a professional who is licensed where you live and who knows your situation.
Conflict of interest
Aurelle is paid by the professionals it elects. The full conflict-of-interest policy, with the rules for reviewers, sponsors and Bureau customers, is on the Standards page. How each payment works is on How Aurelle is paid.
Seat agreement
A summary. The full agreement is signed at election.
The seat holder agrees:
- to keep every criterion true, and to tell Aurelle within ten days if one changes;
- to publish their fees in plain figures and every way they are paid;
- to give Aurelle a list of every client invoiced for this work in the last 24 months, to let Aurelle ask them for reviews, and to let Aurelle publish the reviews whole under the review rules;
- not to ask a client to change, delay or take down a review;
- to the yearly re-election check, and to pay the seat fee after each election or re-election has been decided;
- that a complaint upheld by Aurelle Standards lapses the seat;
- to use the seat card only while the seat is live, with its wording unchanged;
- that Aurelle's rules on advice, products and payment apply to anything they publish with Aurelle's name on it.
Introductions are invoiced at CAD 300 each under this agreement, only for a profession listed as "Charged" in the table of professions. Where the seat holder's professional rules do not permit referral payments, no Introduction fee is charged. The draft seat terms cover length, payment, renewal, cancelling and refunds.
Privacy
What Aurelle collects, why, and for how long.
- Applications for a seat. Everything in the application, your consent record and the checks Aurelle runs. Kept for two years if no seat is elected, and for the life of the seat and three years after if one is. The public profile shows only what the criteria require.
- Drafts. A draft you save while applying stays in your browser, on your device. Aurelle does not receive it until you send the application. "Delete the saved draft" removes it.
- Clients you list for reviews. Their name and email, used to invite them to review your work and to record who was asked. Aurelle sends each client at most two emails, names itself and the seat holder who listed them, and includes an unsubscribe link. A client who says no gets no more email, and their details are deleted on request.
- Reviews. A published review carries its date and the name the client chose.
- Complaints. What you send and your email. Kept while the complaint is open and for three years after. It is sent to the seat holder it names so they can answer. The Index counts complaints and names no one.
- Bureau enquiries. Your name, firm, email and note. Kept while the enquiry is open and for two years after.
- Corrections. What you send, and your email if you give one. Kept as long as needed to answer you. The public log does not name you.
- Payments. Handled by a payment processor. Aurelle stores invoices and a customer reference, never a card number.
- Analytics. None. This site runs no analytics scripts and sets no cookies. If that changes, this section changes first and the date above changes with it.
- Server records. The service that serves these pages keeps ordinary records of requests (the address, the page and the time) for security.
Who sees it. The people at Aurelle who need it for the job, and reviewers on Aurelle Standards, under confidentiality. A form service, an email service and a payment processor handle what you submit on Aurelle's behalf, under written terms. Write to privacy@aurelle.institute for their names.
Your rights. You can ask what Aurelle holds about you, ask for a correction, ask for deletion, and withdraw consent. Aurelle answers within thirty days. Write to privacy@aurelle.institute. Aurelle follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and, for residents of Quebec, Law 25. If Aurelle ever sells the business, your data goes with it under the same rules, and you will be told.
Every email Aurelle sends names Aurelle and its mailing address and has a working unsubscribe.
Terms
Short, because the rules are few.
- You may use this site for yourself. You may quote a page with a link to it. You may not copy the site, scrape the roll or resell its content.
- A seat is governed by the seat agreement signed at election. These terms do not change it.
- Bureau work is governed by the order you sign.
- Aurelle may change or remove content. Pages carry the date they were last changed, and changes to criteria, fees and terms are logged on the corrections page.
- Aurelle's liability to you is limited to what you paid Aurelle in the twelve months before a claim, except where the law does not allow that limit.
- Ontario law governs, and the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to your own courts.
The Standard's rules
Nine rules apply to everything Aurelle publishes. They are the same on all three Aurelle sites.
- Aurelle publishes information, not personal advice.
- Aurelle sells no financial products and takes no share of what a client pays a professional.
- No sponsor sees an application, sets a criterion or influences a score. The conflict-of-interest policy is published on the Aurelle Institute site.
- A seat fee is charged only after the election or re-election it covers has been decided, so no one pays in advance for a verdict.
- The criteria are the same for everyone, and each profile shows the date of every check.
- The Diagnostic publishes its twelve rules, their weights and its arithmetic.
- The Aurelle Index, a yearly report, publishes totals and names no applicant, client or complainant.
- Where a profession's rules do not allow paying for referrals, Aurelle charges no per-Introduction fee for that profession, and says so.
- Every change to these rules or to the criteria is dated, logged and published before it applies.
Accessibility
Aurelle builds to WCAG 2.2 level AA: text contrast of at least 4.5 to 1, every control reachable by keyboard, a label on every input, and motion reduced when your system asks for it. Every video Aurelle makes, including a firm's Bureau episodes, carries captions.
Last tested November 4, 2026 with automated checks of contrast, labels and headings, and by keyboard. No outside audit has been done yet.
