How Aurelle is paid, and what payment does not buy

Professionals pay Aurelle. People who read or ask for an Introduction pay nothing. That is a conflict of interest, and this page says how Aurelle limits it.

Who pays whom

Who pays Aurelle, for what. Prices are in Canadian dollars before tax.

What a seat fee pays for

  • Your profile on the roll, with the date of every check.
  • The re-checks before each re-election.
  • The seat card for your own site and email signature.
  • Running the complaints and appeals process.

What it does not pay for

  • An election. The fee is invoiced after the election is decided, so it is not a payment for one.
  • A higher place on the roll. The roll is ordered by seat number.
  • A change to a review, a criterion or a score.
  • The order or the number of names in an Introduction.
  • A look at anyone else's application.

The conflict, plainly

A professional who pays has a reason to want to stay on the roll, and Aurelle has a reason to want them to pay. Both are true, so Aurelle limits what payment can touch.

  • Reviewers sit on Aurelle Standards, hold no seat and take no money from a seat holder or a sponsor.
  • A reviewer with a tie to an applicant takes no part in that decision.
  • Every decision is in writing, with reasons, and is counted in the yearly Index.
  • Aurelle sells no financial products and takes no share of what a client pays a professional.

The full text is the conflict-of-interest policy.

What is not sold

  • No sponsor is named on any Aurelle site. If one is ever sold, the slot is labelled and the sponsor is named in the Index.
  • No affiliate links. Aurelle earns nothing when someone opens an account or clicks a link.
  • No data sales. An application is used to decide the application.

Which professions pay per Introduction

Some professions' own rules limit or forbid paying for a referral. Aurelle charges the per-Introduction fee to a profession only after counsel has confirmed that its rules allow it. Until then a seat holder pays the seat fee and nothing more.

Mortgage professionals and lendersCAD 2,400 a yearNot charged. Rules on paying for referrals differ by province and state, and the US rules on settlement services are strict, so no fee is charged until counsel has cleared it.

RecruitersCAD 3,600 a yearNot applicable. Introductions are for people who need money advice, so recruiters are not named in them.

A row changes to "Charged" only after the check, and the change is dated in the corrections log. Until it does, the professional pays a seat fee and nothing more. Report a mistake on this page.
